There were a few requests for the Auto-climax in the gallery to be optional. I've changed it so that you can only get it when the speed is on Auto.<br />

Bulk of this update went into the BGMs. We finally have a separate theme for the bosses as well as a victory and game over jingle. While waiting between rounds, a slightly ominous/dark ambience will play in the background (supposedly accompanied by whistling wind sounds but I haven't gotten that done yet).<br />

I needed to fix up a few of the bugs the plagued the Gallery. In addition to that, I had to clean up and set the locking/unlocking of skills and animations so that it worked properly now, since I had left them in a messy state during development (where they worked, but only barely).<br /><br />
Sorry for the delay, but it's going to take a bit more time. It's coming together nicely and I want to finish at least one more Boss-dominant animation. This is all for going ahead to a "proper" demo.<br />
<br />
Also, the BGMs have been re-arranged with better quality samples, so expect to hear them soon, including a new BGM for the Gallery mode.<br />
<br />
I hope I didn't develop some chronic back injury having sit in front of the PC for god-knows how many hours.<br />

So 2017 is here. I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! If you've been following my developments ever since, I want to say I'm really grateful for your participation and patience (seriously!).<br />

I've given it some thought. Moving into 2017, here's the plan for Arena of Audacia (chronological) below. Discussions with my team were had -regarding these decisions:-<br />

<li>Release v1.00 full version. We decided we to make Arena of Audacia purchasable.</li>

This release features a new voice from our VA as well as (2) sketches of BGM from our composer. The BGMs are still incomplete, and we are still testing the best mood/atmosphere to incorporate into the BGMs. Right now inspirations are from the "Golden Axe" games, but if you (our players) have references or possibly something that you think would be better for the AoA universe, I'd like to hear them out (in fact AoA needs it!).<br />

I've also included (3) new boss-specific player-dominant animations, one for each of the first 3 bosses. To trigger them, you only need to run up to them (like how enemies do to the player when knocked down) during their near-death state, with the "Finish" notation. This is intended as a reward for having defeated bosses.<br />

The new sex skill passive isn't intended to change the gameplay in any drastic ways. The effects are mild, and is triggered on maxing out your lust bar. Right now they'll last forever, at least until you gameover or changed the sex skill.<br />

The gallery needed more work done. I managed to get the UI up, as well as added the gallery background. At the same time, I gave the heroine a new idle sprite (as seen above).<br />

In a past post I talked about having sex affect the heroine depending on a passive skill. The latest passive skill allows the player choose/toggle between 3 different effects that having sex have on the heroine:<br />
1. <b>Default </b>// Gain 1 HP when climax (filled up arousal bar). Heroine is neutral on sex.<br />
2. <b>Fallen </b>// Take 1.5x stamina damage. Gain full HP when climax. Stamina rate up for X minute(s). Heroine is energized by sex.<br />
3. <b>Saint </b>// Deal 1.5x knockback. Lose 1 HP when climax. Stamina rate down for X minute(s). Heroine wishes to keep away those dirty hands.<br />
<br />
Each of the 3 effects enable upon climax (filling the arousal bar). As of now I can't tell if these effects will throw off game balance, so things are subject to change.<br />

On another note, I'm in talks with a voice actress to help give our heroine a new voice. If things go well, our heroine would get a streamlined set of voices! Perhaps even a second set of voice for if <b>Fallen</b> is chosen.<br />

So it's finally out (no April Fools here). As you might have noticed, the jump in version (0.85 to 0.87) is becoming shorter. That's just me realizing that AoA still has way more things need getting done.<br />

The project file has been renamed to AoA_Alpha3 from AoD_Alpha2. Just copy the "savegame.ini" over into AoA_Alpha3 if you wish to keep your progress. At the same time, I've also changed the password to access the files (password from <span style="font-size: large;"><b>aod</b> </span>to <b><span style="font-size: large;">dtny</span></b>).<br />

In this release, the number of rounds go up to ROUND[51], with a new boss at 50. The heroine will also go up against a new enemy "Champion" which are formidable enemies in full armor suits, making them pretty tanky.<br />

If you've seen the previous blog post, I mentioned 2 new active skills, one being "Focus" and the other "Sword Dance". I've decided to revamp the "Sword Dance" so you won't be seeing it in this release.<br />

So I was thinking of renaming the project files. As it stands, it is appearing as AoD_Alpha2 when it should be AoA (for Arena of Audacia) instead. That's just confusing for no good reason. At the same time, I was thinking about dropping the "Alpha" too, but deduced that it is not yet time.<br />

From the first picture, you can see that I've added the last TWO active skills into AoA and at the same time, it is missing the third "Settings" tab. That's because I've moved it into the Exit Menu (accessed via ESC key) because it just doesn't make sense to have it in the Skills Menu. I waaaay too much time moving it because I couldn't remember how it worked (even when I coded it) after not revisiting the code for too long.<br />

The gallery is also in the works. It's working for now, but that's probably because I haven't tested it thoroughly enough. The background is still missing (just reusing the arena BG) though. Will have to sink some time into making a nice one.<br />

Following feedbacks on previous releases, the skills were too expensive to upgrade or buy even. I've run down the skill costs, and I think it's in a pretty good range now (standardized 1,000G increments). On top of that you'll have small sum of money as reward for performing double/multi-kills too.<br />
<br />
Then there's the lack of sex/hentai skills even though this is a HENTAI GAME. I have no excuse, so I reserved the last PASSIVE slot solely for this (unless an amazing idea for a passive skill comes up). It won't be very game-changing (don't want to break the game), but just to at least make use of the sex that happens in-game. This is what I have in mind:-<br />

<i>Idea 1 (with settings that clearly buff OR debuff):</i><br />

Partly working on the general events prompt, like double/multi-kill, knocking multiple enemies off the arena. It's just to reward the player by small amounts for wreaking havoc on the arena grounds, while the audience cheers on the bloodbath.<br />

I'm working on multiple parts little by little. Helps to keep from feeling overwhelmed. Parts include the final boss, game end sequence, the 4th h-animation and bugs.<br />

One of the big changes for this release is the charging mechanism. I spent a lot of time trying to get it working and giving the skills the appropriate charged properties. And since charging requires you to hold down a button, skills now only activate when you 'release', as opposed to 'pressing' like before (I feel like this may throw people off).<br />
<br />
Another big change is the "end of round" handling. Previously one can access the Skill Menu and make changes any time, but now you can only do so after finishing the round. A harmless wooden sign will spawn, in which players will have to destroy to proceed. I figured that after a long hard ROUND of enemies, one would like a breather to test out skills and such.<br />

After having done the animation above, I have to draw the 2p and 3p variants too. After that comes the H-animations for all enemies for the 3 variants as well.<br />

The enemy "Champion" has quite the HP and isn't slow as you might imagine too despite being armor-clad.<br />

I present you v0.8! Sorry this took so long. I went back and forth with trying to make BGMs and as a result, I had backlogged lots of things. Unfortunately I still couldn't make a satisfactory one yet, so no BGM still. The 3rd H-animation took lots of time because every enemy has 3 different sprites and got me kinda burnt out. Clearly lacking in front facing positions, I went with the position above. I liked how the animations turned out, hope you peeps enjoy it too!<br />

I've also tweaked the enemy spawn progression. Introduction of new enemy types should make sense now, following the increasing ROUND. As always, I'll be counting on you all to help me test them out!<br />

I was all over the place for the most parts of progress. First was creating the new enemy, making a new H-animation, coding the gallery (half-done), then there's making the BGM. At some point I got lost for a bit.<br />

Here's v0.7 after much waiting! Not too far from v1.0 now and I really really hope I can reach it soon. Obviously there is still much to be done, so it is best I continue with the momentum or ... no I refuse to think of it not finishing. Once again I have not tested it thoroughly so expect updates/fixes to this release.<br />

Added a whole bunch of functions like simple sequencing to game intro and game over handling. Also, there is now proper handling of player game-over. That means (for now) if you are defeated, you will have to restart from ROUND [1] (but I included an option where you can just skip to the boss).<br />

I'd like to know how you'd find the difficulty of the AoAudacia so far. So let's see you trying and reach the boss in ROUND [10]!<br />

Also, I've been thinking if Bosses should have their own animations. It only makes sense to reward (the animation to) the player for having beat the Bosses, but that also means more animation work for me. For now, the Bosses will be using the same animations as the lesser enemies, until I decide to include Bosses-only animations.<br />

Gaah releases are taking increasingly longer to release.<br />
<br />
The big part of this demo is the change in the physics handling. AoD is now using the GM:S built-in box2d physics (basic) instead of my terrible self-coded physics so you should see fewer weird collisions between enemies and player. I tried to make it play as similarly as possible as the previous releases so give the physics a try and see if things like the attacks knockback, player/enemy movement feels right.<br />
<br />
Remember I said something about making one boss enemy, two or more skills, and maybe a proper game intro and name? That was suppose to be v0.4, but I had to revamp the physics (not happy with the previous) so ... yeah those will be v0.5. :/<br />
<br />
I'm trying the compiling into an archive this time instead of into a single executable file. Hopefully this will help against being falsely flagged as malicious.<br />

Also, how about Arena of Audencia for a name?<br />
