June Update

With June drawing to a close, I want post a screenshot or two on how the game would look like with some non-dynamic light, shading and improved texturing:-

Red zone in Labcoax world. Ignore the guidelines.

In the the game there'll be multiple zones in which players will visit in their journey on discovering what happened in Labcoax and "stuff". The idea is that each zone have a certain theme (thus its own look and texture) and the enemies are to follow those themes (e.g. flora or mecha), but I think I've said this before.

Sub-ammo & alternate ammo fire.

A number of 4 ammo-types is planned for Labcoax, each ammo type will have a primary and alternate fire (think differing shot angle, spreadshot and consumes a form of resource like 'hearts' in Castlevania), so you could say 8 different types of syringe shots.

Well I know it's not much but that's all I can put up now. If you have questions you can post them in the comments section below, and I will answer them (as best I could of course :P ).

I expect release Labcoax v0.4 in July!

  1. Will you get a shot type with a loud report, that flies straight forward? I kinda want an option that feels like an actual gun, even if it's still just knockout darts.

    Game's looking really nice, btw.

    1. Highly likely that one of the shot type with a straight trajectory, limited by the view size of course. Don't want you hitting an enemy on the other side of the map.

  2. Looks quite good, must admit you and Kyrieru are both on my high watch list. XD

  3. Finally an update on the blog! You'll create the music for your game how? And how many enemies in the final version?

    1. Will be composing them using FL Studio, though I still have lots to learn about composition. I'm pretty far from a "final" version but we could safely assume at least 20 enemies.

    2. Thank you for your reply Datanony, Fl Studio version is free or buy? 20 enemies is great for your game, but for a first game it'll be a challenge to create 20 single enemies and sex-animations. Good luck with your game ^^ !

  4. Hmm, my only criticisms are the same as before. Not really a fan of the hud, and the gun looks out of place next to the character, since it's outlined and she isn't.

I guess they only really stand out so much to me because the player sprites are so good.

    1. I haven't gotten to work on the HUD yet, unfortunately. The initial plan was to go fully non-outlined, but that proved really difficult make things 'pop', especially the syringe-gun on the player. I could attempt to try again.

Hope you don't mind but it's screaming fem-Ken from your recent sprite:-

    2. lol @ fem-Ken

I attempted some variations of the gun . Also started a hud, but nothing really came of it.

I gotta decide what to do for my game's hud -___-

  6. Looks like it's coming along well! I love the shadow gradients in the background; very moody. And am I mistaken in spotting a new running animation?

    1. It's the animation for one of the abilities that players obtain by defeating special enemies. You probably won't see it till v1.0 though because it's not done and tis' a surprise.

    2. Ooh, i like surprised! Can't wait to see what they are!

    1. they'll need to come up with a decent unlock method to loophole paypals no selling porn rule

    2. If development sees the game to completion on a satisfactory level, I'll sell it (price not certain), possibly on both PPal and dlsite. Otherwise it'll be free.
And yeah, I gotta look into an unlock method for PPal first.

    3. i think kyrieru has one since he uses paypal (don't quote me on this tho XD) and i don't think dlsite is a good choise myself (it always glitches me out T^T) but thank you for replying^^ (most don't sadly T^T) since i am talking i wanted to know, do you know when the next update to the game will be? just wondering so it's ok if you can't/don't say

  9. Just dropping in to say the screenshots look fucking awesome. And I hope you keep doing awesome stuff and don't get burnt out ("progress is slow" usually means one thing in game development, so remember people look up to you--don't let them down :)).

    1. Hey thanks for stopping by. Pendulum giving you a hard time as well? Because it's actually giving me a hard time getting pass the stages :( . I like the way you did the game intro with your cheshireCat logo and menus. Haven't yet got to do them for Labcoax.

Polar bears are left-han... stop distracting me! Anyways good luck with Pendulum!

    2. It's the thought of having to release (too) early that's giving me a hard time, really.

Flashy menus are such a time waster in terms of development time, but people have a weakness for such, so you should also think about it. Also, now that you brought up menus, I wonder if anyone noticed any of the dicks I have drawn in the background.

Thanks and good luck to you too!

  10. I'm the only person I know with a legitimate kink for labcoats and science. There's honestly no way I could NOT be following this in wiggling anticipation.

  11. These screens kind of look like Metroid (especially Metroid Fusion for GBA) and the god, old Mega Man (X). Brings back some memories. Anyway, I like what you're doing and I'll be following this site.

    2. Don't worry too much about not finishing everything you wanted to, no pressure on that front.

  13. Yeah, not trying to rush you. Just being excited for the game and hoping desperately for a release lol. Release quality, not quickly.

Rushing to release before you are ready is just betraying yourself, your standards, and pride in your work. You're an independent developer. You can wait until you're damn well ready to release.
